Press Release

“Enclosure”
November 10/11th 17/18th
The Benham Gallery Colchester

The Benham Gallery plays host to an exhibition which will embrace three dynamic contemporary visual artists: a collaborative installation involving three tenants from Cuckoo Farm Studios, Lisa Temple-Cox, Kim Barclay and Tim Skinner. All artists bring an array of visual practices to the table, but all hold the ability to transform a gallery space and a willingness to change the viewer’s perspective.

Private View details

Lisa Temple-Cox

Working with found objects, Lisa creates art of loss and desire, cocooned within wooden boxes: sometimes as small as a CD case, others large room-like constructions. Her work can feel haunting and glorious at the same, giving the dead and decayed a new beauty, like relics in a museum. (Artist’s Profile)

Kim Barclay

Kim is best known for his work in photography, a decade spent looking and recording the body in the natural environment. However there is another side to Kim’s work; wood, fabric and metal free standing constructions, defining space, creating alternative canvas plains and unconventional ‘frames’ in which to integrate his photography.

Tim Skinner

A multi-media visual artist, Tim uses the visuals generated by sound to create other aesthetic worlds. Working mainly with large sonic installation, his work can evoke all manner of emotion, feelings and sensation. He is now currently working predominantly in video. Three very different artists all working together to create what will prove to be a very memorable exhibition. (Artist’s Profile)
