Evy Jokova
Fly Book
Evy Jokhova is a Russian artist/bookmaker currently residing in London. The concerns of her practice are psychology of imagination and the current craze with defiance and fantasy within contemporary society. Evy creates make-belief worlds through various media focusing on the idea of escapism through imagination. Focusing on narrative and the absurd, she attempts to amalgamate disjointed aspects of contemporary lifestyles. Her work is an attempt to realize the need for inventions of unrestrained fantasy in our society; it defines the moment when the boundary between the real and the imaginary blurs. There is a strong focus on the inter-changeability of form; compositions are shaped from super-imposing, overlapping and altering basic forms. Referencing everyday life and mimicking a child’s imagination the artist morphs mundane objects into people and animals creating fantasy worlds, dreamscapes and imaginary creatures. Evy aims for a fluid transition of imagery/narrative over various surfaces to create worlds without boundaries and wholly involve the viewers in surreal entities.

Lisa Temple-Cox
Shrines
Shrines idea came about when I was on a residency in France last year, and there were all these little niches to Madonna’s in the walls, but the Madonna’s weren’t in there anymore… I wanted to make niches for the lost gods, and the idea grew into seeking the gods I myself lost, from my pagan past… so the shrines, cut into once living wood, are meant to house the half-formed, abandoned or lost gods of my childhood imagination.
Fine Art Foundation Course, South Suffolk School of Art, 1985-86.
EARAC Diploma Applied Arts, Colchester Institute, 1987-89.
Lisa has been a member of Cuckoo Farm Studios for the past six years, and was originally a member of Trinity Street Studios in the centre of Colchester.

Caroline Richardson
Imagination
Imagination is about being able to see through the immediate, about reality fading and seeing through into another realm. The transparency and texture of the first layer hint at reality whilst allowing the next layer to be revealed. The second layer changes according to its surroundings; although it has a definite image it has no colour of its own, only reflecting the colours and shapes around it showing how imagination can be influenced by external stimuli. The driftwood surrounding the work contrasts the 2-dimensional imagination, representing the physical as opposed to something as ethereal as an idea.
Caroline completed a postgraduate course in Glass and Architecture at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London in 2007.

Cormac Scanlan
Hylozoism
"Hylozoism is a ‘Holistic Documentary’ which, whilst offering no answers, uses associational form to invite its viewers to think about life’s big questions. Where did we come from? How are we connected to each other and our planet? Where are we headed as species? What is our purpose as an individual? The film was made over a period of 7 months. It features an original soundtrack, written, performed and produced by Cormac Scanlan and Curtis Redden."
Cormac is based in Ipswich and is a member of Key Arts. Graduated with a BA (Hons) Digital Media from Suffolk College.

Brenda Jones
Enclosures
The installation is about space, sequence, form and colour. Made from found objects, a new resonance is created by contrasting painted surfaces. The squares may be seen purely as sculptural forms, or may suggest a functional purpose, linking them to the farm background.
Brenda completed a Fine Art MA at Norwich School of Art and Design in 2007 and has been a member of Cuckoo Farm Studios since 2006.
Selected shows
Crows Hall Sculpture Exhibition, Debenham, Suffolk, 2008

Rosemary Mackinder
Rut
It is autumn in the Deer Park, and the stags in the herd become rivals in their attempts to impress and gain the favours of one of the groups of hinds. They challenge the other stags by bellowing and walk in parallel to assess their opponent’s body-size, antlers and fighting prowess. If neither backs down, antlers are locked and battle commences.
Rosemary graduated from Colchester School of Art and Design in 2007 with a BA Hons Fine Art and arrived at Cuckoo Farm Studios soon after.
Selected shows

Gary Winterford
taps
It is what it is.
Taps appear to grow reminiscent of a family of mushrooms, surreal, unreal and
quietly totemic.
Like the road they rest on they are misused and dormant, even abandoned, or if you
prefer…..left behind.
They are taps.
