Jacqueline Davies

golDEN, Firstsite Commission, 2009

Blue Curtain, Montgomery Residency, 2006

Jacqueline Davies is a surface pattern designer and painter with a passion for pattern & print. Her designs lend colour and optimism from the 1950’s era. Often working to a theme, Jacqueline selects colour combinations that really shouldn’t work but do. She describes her work as retro to modern and primitive to atomic. With a background that stems from printed textile design, fabric designers Ray Eames and Lieanne Day are an inspiration for many of her works. Other influences are drawn from all things Mid-Century, from Modernism to Polyneisia, all with a sense of revival of a bygone time.

Her commercial client list includes: Channel 4, JD Weatherspoons, M Modern Gallery USA, Kelly’s Market Place USA, Firstsite, Northampton Museum, Creative Partnerships, Essex County Council, The Gardens of Easton Lodge, First Great Eastern Railways, Tom Cody Design US, The Walker Art Gallery, Port Sunlight Museum
