Event this coming weekend at Cuckoo farm studios Artist Sarah Sabin ‘Digs about under the surface of places’ in her Artwork. Although describing herself as a ‘private’ person, with an irrational fear of Internet networking sites, picking other people’s histories to bits is something she enjoys. From Divining rods to lie detectors, explosive sniffers to satellite surveillance, finding the ‘truth’ and getting to hidden information is supposedly getting more sophisticated. Sarah Sabin has been looking at historical, contemporary, (and both disputed and questionable) ways of doing this. Meet the Artist; see her current research and work in progress from this month’s residency in the gallery, and related objects at: The Benham Gallery, Cuckoo Farm Studios, Boxted Road, Myland Colchester. This Sat and Sun 27th – 28th Feb 11- 4pm. Plus participate in the research by joining a public ‘divining’ experiment taking place 2-4pm sat 27th in the grounds of Cuckoo farm. Divining rods and demo available! (In event of poor weather, this will take place in the gallery) Background. Sarah Sabin was Artist in Residence at UCl institute of Archaeology 2008-2009, and has recently completed a 5m high permanent artwork using 864 doorknobs for Greenfields Community housing H.Q in Braintree, Essex.
