Elaine Tribley

Statement

  • Using a contemporary approach to the subject of landscape my work looks at the relationship between technology and nature in terms of representation. Challenging perceptions of reality and fiction, the natural and unnatural, often with an added sense of irony. I work predominately site specifically creating installations which directly affect the spaces they occupy, playing with the dynamics of architecture or altering external meanings. My interests range from Englishness, place and histories, to folklore, myth and fairy tales. I am also interested in text as an artform and through the artificial medium of vinyl I articulate psychological landscapes, using words rather than images.
