Rosemary Mackinder

Statement

  • Aspects of colour, light, movement, time, ordering and sequencing are all features of my work. I am concerned with visually presenting movement and rhythm within the static, using repetition of simple shapes and the interaction of colour to achieve this. I enjoy the paradox of visual movement in static reality.

Progression and order within the format of grids and sequences are all important features.

My attention is now focused on lifestyles found at the Essex seaside, and I am at present fascinated by fruit machines. I am also proposing to work with other aspects of the seaside scene and will try to capture the elusive qualities to be found in its overtly brash and gaudy persona.

I work in a variety of media producing work that can be two or three dimensional, often using site-specific found objects as catalysts for my pieces.
