STATEMENT:

Personal Statement – Sadness Violence Sublime

I take inspiration for my large scale canvasses from looking at the relationship between abstracted space and the human form to create daydream-like imagery.
By allowing exaggeration and distortion to play a role edges my work towards the idea of the breakdown of society, and highlighting its unseemly underbelly.
Notions of sadness, violence, nihilism and the sublime are also prevalent when constructing my paintings.
