Cuckoo Farm Studios offers some of the most affordable artists’ studios in Essex. We currently house 30 artists at various stages of their careers working in a variety of media.
Studios, both individual and shared, can be accessed 24/7 and are secure. They are in converted farm buildings and residential spaces and all artists have access to on site facilities.
Rents range from £80 to £130 per month
Cuckoo Farm Studios fosters an environment of creative practice with peer support and encouragement.
Studio spaces are awarded to artists following an application which is scrutinised by the CFS committee.
Artists are assessed with reference to the following eight criteria:
An active commitment to their practice
Clear intentions and ambitions for the future development and direction of their work
An engagement with contemporary practice
How work space at CFS will benefit their practice
That they will contribute to the studio Intellectually and/or socially
A willingness to contribute to public events such as open studios
That they will contribute to the day-to-day running or management of the studios
A desire to be part of a community of artists
