Laurence Cawley awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society.

Cuckoo Farm associate member Laurence Cawley has been awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society.

Laurence, whose personal practice sits between social documentary and art photography, is now an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), the organisation's second highest distinction.

In his award letter, the society said: "The Royal Photographic Society's Distinctions are internationally recognised as benchmarks of photographic excellence.

"This achievement reflects the quality of your work, and you should be proud of this significant milestone."

Laurence, who works for the BBC as a writer, photographer and team manager, said: "It is in my personal practice that I really get to explore subjects of interest, get lost down artistic side-alleys and play with ideas without fear they might not actually lead anywhere... or take me somewhere revelatory.

"That this distinction relates to my personal work, rather than 'professional' work, is hugely gratifying and a very helpful enthusiasm boost at the start of a new year!"
