Cuckoo Farm Studios was subsequently established when a small group of artists moved in and began to turn this derelict farm into a suitable establishment for practicing professional artists to work from.

Since then it has grown to house over 30 studios and prides itself on the professionalism of its artists and the reputation that they bring to the organisation. It has become a valuable resource within the wider community, through collaborative links with Colchester Makerspace, We are the MinoriesColchester School of Art & DesignColchester Art SocietyFirstsite and Essex University.

We support emerging creative talent through our Graduate Award Scheme, and we continue to support artists through professional development. We are located in a rural location and are proud of our rustic environment. We offer free parking, basic facilities and a warm welcome.

In 1992 the tenant farmer, Colchester Arts Forum and Colchester Borough Council instigated the conversion and renovation of several redundant farm buildings to provide low cost studios for artists and craftspeople. We are artist run and organise a variety of events throughout the year.
