Cuckoo Farm Studios Artist in Residence at The Minories: Stuart Bowditch - The Sound of Place.

The second in the series of artists in residence from Cuckoo Farm Studios - introducing Stuart Bowditch.

Stuart's practice is located in places and communities that exist on the fringes, both geographically and socially, with a particular interest in the sonic landscape, capturing overlooked and overheard noises and using sound as a documentative and creative medium.

Stuart will be responding to the engraving by David Lucas of John Constable’s painting of Stanway Mill, Colchester in our permanent collection. The mill no longer exists but he will visit the place where it was situated to document the sound of the place as it is now. He will use this field research to create an interactive sound experience at the Minories, which all are welcome to take part in.

Stuart will be in residence at The Minories between 11th January and 11th February 2024.

You are welcome to take part in the free drop in workshops during the following weekends:

13th & 14th January
27th & 28th January
3rd & 4th February
Performances on 10th & 11th February
